Dr. Respess serves as Director of Economics at Economics Partners LLC, where he specializes as economic consultant and expert on the antitrust analysis of mergers. His practice focuses principally on the financial and economic analysis of merger efficiency claims and failing firm defenses.
Prior to joining Economics Partners, Dr. Respess worked for 15 years as Principal Economist at Baker McKenzie Consulting LLC, an economics consulting affiliate of Baker McKenzie LLP. While at Baker McKenzie, he provided economic consulting support to the antitrust, tax, and white-collar crime practice groups.
Dr. Respess previously held several positions at the Federal Trade Commission (FTC): Senior Antitrust Economist in the Bureau of Economics, Attorney and Economic Advisor to an FTC Commissioner, and Assistant Director of Accounting and Financial Analysis in the Bureau of Competition. He has been contacted by the FTC and Justice Department attorney staff on several occasions to serve as an economic expert related to merger efficiency and failing firm claims, most recently testifying in the Sanford Health/Mid Dakota Physicians healthcare matter.
